The day I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks
Picture
At 12 weeks when I started to show pretty funny I thought I was huge at the time haha
Dressing the bump has been a real journey in itself! It has brought many days where I feel at war with my wardrobe trying on every possible combination of clothing.
I have always been one who loves to dress up and feel nice for me and just because I've been pregnant I didn't want that to change!
On the days where I feel put together and the outfit works its made me feel so much better about accepting this ever growing and changing shape!

Currently at 39 weeks I have gained 15kgs - Which I feel ok about, most of it has piled on in this last trimester as holy hell I have wanted all the food!
In particular Frozen coke, rasberry liquorice twists and bagels... so healthy hah!
I haven't been active what so ever but I don't beat myself up about it!
So there is no denying I will have some work to do once she is out and I have recovered from giving birth..Prior to getting pregnant I was gymming 5 days a week and felt super fit so I am looking forward to getting back to that once I get a handle on mum life.
I know my body won't be the same again, I'm now sporting some new tiger stripes on my lower tummy but they represent growth of my baby girl I'm carrying and that is a beautiful thing.
We have to be kind to ourselves ladies our bodies are doing something pretty miraculous.

Honestly on a real level sometimes I have felt as though my butt is growing a baby too...or its trying to compete with my belly cos damn the booty has done some growing too!
Sometimes I double take at my side profile in the mirror thinking HOLY Alice the camel has all the lumps...

All you will have seen me wear is my boots because who the hell in their right mind with torture themselves with the task of bending over to tie laces is beyond me...I just don't ever take them off my feet, problem solved!

I have found anything high waisted has always been my best friend as it elongates my short legs and accentuates my waist
I love layering clothing so naturally have adapted that to dressing the bump over that past 9 months

A-line skirts have been one of my staples! It fits the waist yet allows room to drape over the bump and create an illusion you look smaller
With majority of my pregnancy being in the winter season has been an absolute saviour (THANK GOODNESS) being able to cover up rather than try and keep cool has made life so much easier

I also lived in thick 200 denier tights that I buy from New World and always in tall/extra tall size so that I could hitch them up over the bump and they would almost act as a spanx type effect! With the denier being 200 they would keep my legs warm and always look nice and matte black. AND I need to add that shaving the legs soon falls into the too hard basket so tights are the perfect fix!
I think the brand is Razzamatazz?

My sister has drummed into me the for the past 9 months to take photos of my body at every stage as she said this is something she regrets not having more photos of the journey...Obviously they aren't photos that have to be shown to anyone or put in an album on Facebook but she kept saying she wished she had more to look back on.
Already looking back through my photos right from the beginning its pretty fascinating to see how my body has grown and accommodated a little life inside this belly

At 28 weeks here this wrap skirt from Zara was a favourite, sadly I only fit it until about 32 weeks before the wrap only just overlapped and was a bit dangerous if the wind blew haha
Picture
Belts aren't something I was into before pregnancy but soon learned a belted dress is a great way to show off the bump and make any dress instantly more flattering
Again with the layering I loved wearing tops with fun sleeves underneath
Dress HM, Top HM, Belt glassons

Skirt and top combo has obviously been my go to! This Ruby skirt wore really well throughout my pregnancy, I think the key is stretch fabric ladies!
Makes for a much more comfortable outfit and that ever forgiving A-line shape I found to be  most flattering, well on my figure anyway.
Paired it with a flared sleeve top tucked in and pulled out so it sat draped over the waistline (this one is from Forever New)
Picture
This jumpsuit from Asos has been the only maternity outfit I have worn, Its like a super stretchy jersey fabric that grows with you - SO COMFORTABLE and has pockets
I swear anything with pockets is an absolute added bonus for carrying a handful of raspberry liquorice twists

My Baby shower dress was so comfortable and I felt great in it! pretty sure I was 31 weeks here, The dusky pink as you know is totally my shade and the stretchy fabric made it so comfortable to wear!
Ticked all the boxes for me covering the arms, the tie at the waist made it drape over the bump nicely and the length finished at the right length on my calves.
I did have to safety pin the side splits a little as they were a touch high for my liking!
This was from Top Shop in their sale

35 Weeks
My 26th birthday outfit was quite a liberating feeling wearing something this tight! Whenever I want to feel fabulous I'll whip out the Harman Grubisa lambs wools stole I think at this time I was really having a moment of embracing my body and throwing all insecurities out the window!
Dress - HM
Stole - Harman Grubisa
Shoes - Gorman

Denim Jacket - Asos Dress from @hellodarlingnz

Top - Zara
This dress has been a real fave to wear, pictured here styled on two different occasions, The peplum detail is really flattering combined with a figure hugging silhouette.
Not a maternity dress but the stretch fabric is very forgiving on the bump which makes it work, I will really miss wearing dresses like this when I am breast feeding!

Layering a cropped top over a dress I have found to work well with the bump and still maintain somewhat of a style going on!
As you can see I like to have fun with sleeves, I feel as though it balances out my shape and adds interest
They say your feet get bigger with pregnancy and I have to agree my acne boots have been hugely favoured as my feet were nice and comfy in them even with a little swelling (So glamorous) and again at this point bending over to tie laces would have me needing to pass out!
Top - Zara
Dress - HM

At 39 weeks I felt pretty good in this outfit. I love this little wrap number from glassons and thought it would be a perfect top for breastfeeding! Again sporting yet another A-line high waisted skirt this one from asos.
Another reason why I love the skirt and top combo is you can always mix and match and create new outfits by changing one out for something else.
Picture
When my sister saw this photo she said to me "omg I thought you were standing in a store and thought you had people behind you?!" But I was just in a changing room with surrounding mirrors haha!
Picture
And finally... because we are all friends here right?! Here are my new stretch marks that honestly felt like they appeared over night at about 37 weeks
Im sure over time they will fade and gain a few more with my next pregnancy but seriously I've never had a bikini body or been one to run around in midriff tops so who the fuck cares? I certainly don't! They tell a story of growing my first baby girl and thats something to be admired.

If you are reading this and pregnant I hope can be your most fabulous self during this journey, be proud of your ever changing body and own it GF!

I have been struggling with the fact that my pre-preggo style is just not compatible. You've actually inspired me to get some crop tops to go over figure hugging dress/skirt/pants so I can get out of this uniform of shapeless yet comfy tee and pants thing I've started to despise wearing 😂
And yes, taking as many photos whether we look amazing or blah is important to look back on later - great post 🙌🏽
