Time for new hair?

Chatting to THE CUT’s Co-Founder Frana Evans on this season’s hair trends and how to pull off a bold look...

What are the biggest hair styling trends this winter season?

Textured, choppy layers will be a massive trend for those wanting to achieve a full-bodied, roughed-up, rocker look.  Bangs are back too, though in a way we haven’t seen for some time.  Skip your styling tools and let your fringe be free to create a cool, grungy look that is cutting edge.

The mid-length chop, the ‘lob’ (long bob) continues to be in vogue this season.  It’s a collarbone length cut that suits almost all face shapes and hair types.  Fine hair will benefit from the no-layered look, as it helps the hair to appear thicker and elongates the neck.

From a styling perspective, the classic blow-wave is our go-to at THE CUT.  When done right, the blow-wave provides smooth, bouncy volume and a glossy finish that is forever chic, no matter your hair type.

*See below my soft and wavy blow wave I had done at THE CUT a few weeks ago. I LOVED the results and not to mention how quick and easy it is to walk in for an appointment*

After thinking about the new styles I decided to take the plunge and switch up my hair opting for choppy layers and long side bangs. Im in LOVE and not sure why I didn't decide to do this sooner my hair has never felt better and I can do so many more styles with it!

Are there any factors you advise your clients to consider before embarking on a bold new look?

It’s important to consider your face shape before going for a drastic chop.  Most face shapes will suit a shoulder length style, though any shorter can sometimes enhance a rounder face.
At THE CUT, we like to assess a clients’ hair type, and then chat with them about how it will suit different styles and cuts.  Some trends such as the ‘lob’ may require extra daily styling time if your hair is thick or frizzy, while the rough, choppy look requires minimal styling time and maintenance for most hair types.

Some reasons I am absolutely loving having a change of style:

- I can now wear my hair so many ways that I wouldn't before, Like a cute top knot bun with the bangs out has been my saviour for dirty hair days and I've actually been able to go longer without washing my hair!

- I have gained a lot more body and just overall movement around my face my hair isn't as flat and drab looking

- I have totally changed up the style but kept all the length! I think this is the perfect option if you are thinking of changing your hair but too scared to part with  your long style.

I Hope you found some inspiration or helpful tips in this post if you are thinking of changing up your hair!
